We made it!

Hello all! The SJJ Guatemala Team has successfully completed the journey to El Salvador (and Guatemala)! Unfortunately, we did not have access to the internet while in San Salvador, so we write to you now from our comfy retreat house in Guatemala City. Most of the morning and afternoon went by surprisingly quickly, especially considering it involved waking up at 5:30 AM to pack and begin a five hour drive. For the adults, the day was an opportunity to learn about the average adolescent's attention span as we drove in the bus with 15 cramped adolescents intent on being constantly aware of how much time was left in the drive. Despite all that, the drive was actually quite peaceful and beautiful and our journey through customs was more or less uneventful. At the moment we are spending the afternoon acclimating ourselves to our surroundings and organizing our things in this new place. Soon we will head to a local strip mall to stretch our legs and release some energy, and perhaps buy a soccer jersey. Based on the way the students are talking, apparently there is nothing else for sale except these coveted jerseys in all of Central America. Rest assured loyal blog followers, we will be able to post more regularly now that we are in Guatemala. Later this afternoon or evening we will post a few reflections about our enlightening and emotional experience in San Salvador yesterday. We miss you all and hope all is well at home. Peace, Mr. Dane and the SJJ Guatemala Team
